When I first traveled to places I’d likely never revisit—the world is a big place—I was frustrated and even sad to leave beautiful and interesting sites behind. Sure, I’d bring back photographs galore, souvenirs and other mementos, and books, but they weren’t enough. They wouldn't keep my memories alive.

But writing stories about these places would let me keep them forever. And since everything is better when it’s shared, I am sharing them in an uninterrupted reading format to help you drift to those places and engage in the experiences. Then let photographs visually take you there; they never fail to take me back.

Vancouver – The Aquarium in Stanley Park

I am looking at a creature with no bones, no heart, no brain, and no eyes. Shredded ribbons of white jelly drift away from its flamboyant bell-shaped body. And yet the orange jellyfish is only one of the fascinating exhibits of the Vancouver Aquarium. What’s more, you never see the same thing twice.

I had planned to walk the trail from the Lenno dock to Villa del Balbianello overlooking Lake Como, I am sitting on a taxi boat instead. The trail is closed on Mondays but glimpsing the villa through the trees couldn’t have matched its awesome setting from the water.
